These twin French country style cabinets were commissioned by a customer in Bath who wished to conceal their television, DVD player, digital box, DVDs and Videos within furniture that would be in keeping with their Georgian town house.
Although both cabinets are identical in exterior appearance their interiors have been specifically designed and custom built for their seperate purposes.
In a departure from the usual simple shaker style of most of Robert's furniture these cabinets are a little more elaborate, having a 70 mm thick worktop with a Georgian cornice style moulded frieze, raised fielded panels on the doors, and individually hand turned feet.
The solid hardwood cabinet doors are made in the traditional cabinet maker's method with scribed, wedged mortise and tenon joints.
The interior of the cabinets can be viewed be clicking on the slide show image at the bottom of the left hand column. This shows the flat screen television sitting on its pull-out shelf and the pull-out DVD racks with their sprung plastic inserts (when the DVDs are pushed they spring out).
The doors are lockable and the door locks are fitted with antiqued brass ornamental escutcheons.
The cabinets are hand painted in three coats of Farrow and Ball's eggshell finish paint in the colour 'Shaded White'.
